The Tiber River upstream of Lake Montedoglio
The Tiber River in the Tuscan Valtiberina, just above Lake Montedoglio, offers an excellent opportunity for fishing enthusiasts because of its torrential nature. Perfect for angling and spinning, you can catch a wide variety of species here. With angling, you will be able to catch chub, barbel, roach, rudd, roach, carp and tench. While with spinning you will also have a good chance of encountering trout and perch, in addition to the classic chubs.
The best locations for shot fishing are the holes along the course of the Tiber River. While if you are looking for carp and tench, you will have to move to the stretch where the river enters Lake Montedoglio. For spinning, look for the potholes, but also for the small runs and rapids, especially in the section where the river enters Lake Montedoglio, where you might also be lucky enough to encounter pike.
